My family and I sat down last night to watch a movie that my kids wanted to watch. It was called "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Jane and I agreed that it had to be in the top 2 stupidest movies we've ever seen (right behind "PeeWee Hermon's Great Adventure"). But for me the kicker was the continual blasphemy of the Almighty. The movie either made fun of those who believe in the Lord for doing so, or made fun of the idea of God altogether. In the place of God was an alien life form set up as a galactic government.
What does that have to do with prophecy? Well, the galactic government could demolish entire planets as part of their "eminent domain" authority and earth was demolished that way. Prophecy indicates that this earth will be demolished and a new earth will replace it. But the prophecy of the Bible is based on the person and work of the Living God - who is not going to stand to be blasphemed the way this movie does.
I suggest, humbly and honestly, that the unbelieving who are reading this post consider all the prophecies of the Bible that have been fulfilled already. They were not prophecies that came of some "higher intelligence" or "alien" life-form from another planet. Those ideas are the result of someone smoking something that will cook one's brain. These prophecies are the most accurate on record, far exceeding the general and multiple interpretations of the prophets the world loves: Nostrodamus, et. al. Prophecies of Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and many others in the Scripture have predicted specifically the rise and fall of world powers, the coming of Christ, the crucifixion of Christ, and many more. These are not "after the fact" prophecies, but often enough, prophecies that precede their fulfillment by up to 1,000 years or more.
So, my friends, when it comes to the choice to believe in some fairy tale of Hollywood pipe-smokers or the Bible, I plead with you to trust in the Almighty God. Do not let the passage of 2,000 years deter you from faith. The Bible also warns us to beware we don't get caught like those in Noah's day - who mocked the warnings of Noah, and were surprised and destroyed by their own arrogant unbelief.
