Some folks around Bakersfield are beginning to wonder about the events in and around Israel. Are these things part of the “last days” somehow? How does the world scene fit in with Scriptural prophecy?
I’ll not take this forum as the place to expound on an answer. Sorry. But I WILL admit that I am beginning to sit up and take notice of the potential for regional war with Israel in the middle. That MUST be significant – though I’m no eschatologist and don’t pretend to be. I’ll stick to pastoral duties and leave the deeper studies to the theologians.
One of the things I’ve observed, though, is that the signs of the times are clear – we ARE getting closer to the rapture of the church. Christians should be getting serious about their relationship with Jesus Christ, and that is essential.
Specifically, the most significantly neglected part of our Christian relationship is church attendance. It seems that nearly anything will suffice as an excuse not to attend worship services, Bible Studies and prayer meetings. Yet, our Lord initiated these fellowships for our strengthening and grounding in the faith. Consider the words of the writer to the Hebrews:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Heb 10:25)
The day is approaching, so the need for our assembling together is growing. That is the clear meaning of this text. I hope you will be in church this Sunday. But don’t just make it for an hour. Plan to attend your Bible study group, and return in the evening if your church offers evening services. Devote the day to the Lord; devote your heart to Him for a day. I also hope you’ll make midweek services, too. You will grow if you will commit to this practice of worship and Bible study. The Lord promises it in the Bible.
