The Sanity of Shame
Dr. Albert Mohler presents, in his article below, a masterful discussion of how shame - that antiquated feeling so many psychologists are trying to say is at the root of our problems - is missing in our world today, and we are paying the price. Could it be that shame is evidence of sanity, and insanity is defined as the absence of shame?NewsNote: Whatever Happened to Shame? - AlbertMohler.com
As I see it, it is totally insane to not feel shame by some of the things we do. To feel shame is, as Dr. Mohler aptly presents, is to acknowledge God. It is insane to deny Him. To feel shame is to know right from wrong. It is insane to have no clue about what's right and what's wrong.
Just a thought: Our world is flooding with insanity faster than the sane have time to stem the flow. I believe this is because of many things, but one of them is technology. We have so many gadgets to make our lives easier, do more quicker, and enjoy life more completely that we no longer take the time to think on things, to ponder their legitimacy or value. Shame goes by the wayside so that pleasure, profit, and productivity are enhanced. If it seems or feels right, go for it. How easily that deceives. How quickly insanity infiltrates our society, and shame ... who has time for that?
Just a thought - Shame is Sane!
