Believe the Bible!

I read from Barna today that younger generations are hungrier for the Word of God, but read it less, and believe it as authoritative less.1 I only wish our young people would come to terms with the claims of Scripture about itself - something that seems to be lost on our culturally focused teachings.

Consider these verses:

2Ti 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

2Pe 1:21 "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

Luk 21:33 "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away."

Mat 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

First of all, the Bible SAYS it is inspired by God. Critics declare it is full of errors, omissions, and contradictions, but God says otherwise. He says He wrote it with the help of those yielded to Him. He also ensures it will stand. He also inspired every "jot and tittle" - punctuation.

Second, reason should be applied in making assertions about the fallacy of the only book every written which claims to be written by God. That reason is this: if God wrote it, as it claims, then does God have the power to preserve it and will God back up His words completely? If the answer to any part of those questions is "no," then what hope has anyone got for counting on God in any particular situation, especially the hope of going to heaven?

Our very faith rests upon the authority of Scripture, because that authority is God. By that I mean, God's very character is destroyed if He fails in any way to uphold His Word. If He fails, He breaks His own commandments (Thou shalt not lie). If He fails, He is not perfect as He claims. If His are not perfect, neither is He eternal; the whole "Christianity" thing comes tumbling down. But if it is true, then the whole condition of mankind rests on His Word - and our hope is in Jesus Christ - the One who came at Christmas as a carpenter's son; the One who shook the whole world with only 12 disciples and amazing teaching; the One who was cruelly crucified by the Romans at the wish of the Jews (a lamb to the slaughter for the forgiveness of sins); the One who rose from the dead at Easter to grant eternal life to all who believe (trust) in Him. Truly, peace is made between man and God when God sent His Son to reconcile them while they were enemies.

It pays to read, study, and believe the Word of God.

Just a Thot: Believe and be reconciled with God!
