Passage:
1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? 20 For ye are our glory and joy.
Main Point: Leading People to Christ is the Greatest Thrill Ever!
· Blessing One of the greatest blessings a believer will ever experience is the fellowship of other believers - especially the ones they have personally led to Christ. Paul led a handful of believers to Christ in Thessalonica and calls them his hope, joy, and crown of rejoicing; his glory and joy in the day of Christ! Can you picture the day Christ and Paul are talking face to face, and Jesus asks Paul, "So, what do you have to say for your service to me? Whom have you told of me?" Paul's face will light up for the sheer thrill of being able to answer this in a way he knows will please his Savior eternally, "These, Dear Lord, from Thessalonica, who have heard of you through the power of your Word, and received you with faith. They have given their all to you, and have endured great persecution for your name's sake. They love you and they love one another. I am so proud of them! They bring me great joy, but to know they bring you joy, Lord, is the greatest glory I have ever known!"
Have you led anyone to faith in Christ Jesus? Have you nurtured them to maturity? As a pastor, I can say I have - and I hope you will, too. It will be my joy to see you do that. I will rejoice with you when you do. Yes, you whom I have led to faith, you are MY hope, joy, and crown of rejoicing; you are my glory and joy! Blessed am I that there are believers because of my testimony. Blessed am I that there are those who have continued in the faith because of my Savior's sustaining grace and marvelous mercy.
Devotional:
It is such a great joy to lead others to faith in Christ Jesus. The mandate to share your faith is in no way tied to some special office in the church; it is not tied to a special spiritual gift, either. It is the charge of Christ to EVERY believer because He wants us to know the joy of it; He wants us to experience the thrill and the sense that His kingdom is larger because of the work you have done! He wants you to be a part of His work. Don't miss out, my brother. Don't disqualify yourself, dear sister. Tell people about Jesus until someone believes and is saved. You will be glad you did!
Holler for Jesus,
Greg Yount
