Exodus 12:13 (NKJV) Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
The greatest thought I have ever had is this: "Jesus' blood applied to MY heart means God will Pass Over Me on Judgment Day!" I have the promise of God about that.
For that promise to matter...
I first need to know that God keeps His promises. And that is obvious by simply reading a bit of the Bible. But there's more. God's history points to His future. Because of all that He's promised to do and completed, I can trust Him for those things that are yet to be.
Next, I need to know that I can apply Jesus' blood to my life. Again, I go to the scriptures. They say:
Hebrews 9:13-14 (NKJV)
For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Therefore, we learn that applying the blood of Jesus is a spiritual transaction, not a material one; and in that transaction, cleanses me from all sinful, dead works. Being saved means that my conscience is cleaned by the blood of Jesus applied by the eternal Spirit. And that brings up the third thing.
I need to know that I can't ever lose my standing before God. I have here, in Hebrews, that proof. The Blood of Jesus is applied eternally - that means forever. If it ever stopped, it wouldn't be eternal, and that would mean God didn't keep His promise; that God is a liar. Now, for God to be righteous, He can't also be a liar or a promise-breaker. The blood of Jesus, therefore, gives me eternal life, and I am passed over in the Day of Judgment!
Thank God today for the Blood of Jesus applied to your life! Then live for Him in a life of gratitude.

Re: Cleansed By the Blood
I love how you said that being saved means that our conscience can be cleaned from the sins of our past. I was listening to a sermon Sunday evening about Mary and Martha when they invited Jesus into their home. So often we act like Martha, when we try desperately to clean up our lives before we really allow God into them. But God didn't come for the self-righteous, or for the clean. He just wants us to sit at His feet and worship Him like Mary.
I pray that I can forgive myself for the things Christ already took care of for me. Thanks for the post!
