Ok, I did it, I spent time on a chat room (ChristiaNet.com). Shoot me or forgive me. But while I was there, I talked with folks from Africa, US, Australia, Philippines, Canada, and India today. In one conversation, I met a man from Sierra Leone - who thought he was a Christian. While we agreed that the morals of our world are moving from bad to worse, he thought the solution was prayer. Most Christians would accept that at face value. However, there is all too often a deeper thing to consider - the power of Jesus Christ to change a life, a heart, and a value system. Therefore, I mentioned that the solution was Jesus Christ. He didn't understand that one. "How could Jesus Christ make a difference in our world" was the essence of his response. I told him of the life changing power of Christ. I asked him if he had met Jesus Christ himself. He said he did, but then would not talk any more about it.
Folks, friends, and dear ones, may I plead with you today to consider that we cannot change the world ourselves. Only Jesus can change the world. But talking about Jesus, introducing others to Jesus, and developing our own relationship with Jesus is the key. I've just said a mouthful. If our own relationship with Jesus suffers from lack of attention, we will not be able to talk about Him or introduce Him to others. But Jesus changes people. When people truly meet Jesus - there is a change on the inside. People won't understand God's values until their natures are changed into God's nature - and that only comes through meeting and trusting Jesus Christ.
So, friends, let's speak our mind in politics, vote in the elections, but spend most of our time and energies in leading people to Christ Jesus! That will produce more Godly voters, politicians, and neighbors!
