2 Samuel 2:1
And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron. It seems that all too often we make our decisions based upon anything but the LORD's will. We think we are doing the Lord's Will, but I must ask a question to everyone because I must also ask it of me - have I directly asked the Lord in prayer?
These days, people think they know the will of the LORD for a myriad of reasons, and declare He has spoken in a myriad of ways. Yet, when this question is posed to them, they pause and answer "No." Circumstances, chance encounters, shooting stars, and new opportunities are not necessarily evidence of the Lord's will. They may be Satan's diversions. We must inquire of the Lord as David did. Seeing an opportunity before us is all the more reason to inquire of the Lord. David not only sought permission from the Lord to take Judah after Saul's death, but sought the direction of the Lord in doing it.
Do you have a decision to make today? Ask the Lord directly, and He will answer. It will help you to make more confident and Godly choices from the circumstances, chance encounters, new opportunities, and whatever. They will not lead you astray - for they will not lead you; God will!
