Kansas is the next in the growing line of states to amend their constitution protecting marriage against the activist judges in the land who misguidedly believe that homosexuals should be entitled to marry one another. By a 70% margin, the measure passed. (See http://www.cnsnews.com//ViewNation.asp?Page=\Nation\archive\200504\NAT20050406a.html)
This is a small, but steady blow to the activist judges in the Land. Christians, we need to keep this matter before the LORD so that the momentum is not lost, and one day our judges will be accountable again to the people. What little morality is left in our land is slipping away thanks to our judges who have long ago lost theirs - and believe we should all lose ours.
I have always said that one cannot legislate morality. I still believe that. But some moral issues require legislative action to ensure that those who refuse to accept moral principles for their lives are given some consequences so our culture does not promote anarchy, but decency and good natured respect for one another. Therefore, while not everyone will accept morality, and laws don't force it (any more than laws force one NOT to kill), the penalties may be stiff enough to discourage immoral behavior - as it ought to be.
I agree, Rick. You have said it well. May I only add that it is time for those of us who have voiced our opinions through the polls to take the next step and encourage our newly elected representatives to stand firmly together to fight this judicial tyranny and immorality. By that I mean they need to impeach tyrannical judges and put them up on congressional trial, and convict them of treason against our constitution, society, and the will of the people! I know it sounds radical, but that would be poetic justice and reign in the despotic judges who believe they are accountable to no one!
