George Barna (www.Barna.org) came out with a new report this week about the "Purpose" people perceive their lives to have. Most, believe it or not, have put family first. The breakout is interesting, and encouraging to me, a pastor. Among those who call themselves "evangelicals," faith preceded family. That is encouraging, for faith makes a better family. Faith makes everything better.
I know that some folks don't like Barna for the statistics are really their beef. It isn't the information - they discount the info because they don't trust statistics. But when Christians place their priorities in the wrong places, the results can be damaging indeed. The direction of the country indicates that faith is becoming less and less a priority. That is a statistic that the numbers overwhelmingly bear out with the observable evidence every day. One cannot argue that one.
