Just Tho'ts

  • Someone asked me, "What's a 'blog'?" My answer - simply a webpage where a person can post comments. Kind of an online bulletin board, but devoted to one person's thoughts. Comments (like here on my blog) may be added by readers for discussion, OR NOT. It's up to the blogger. "Blog" is short for "web log."
  • I have a Theology II test this morning. If I'm learning anything about theology, I'm learning that there are a great deal of well-meaning, but misguided theologians in this world. Someone once asked me, "Are these people with different theological positions saved?" My response is straight from the Word of God: Man judges the outward appearance, while God judges the heart (my paraphrase of 1Sam 16:7). God is the judge, not me. I do well to leave it with Him. However, I also must say this: I am convinced, yea, even convicted that my theology is right. Having said that, I believe that there are a great many saved according to the Scriptures who have since strayed in their theology and need correcting. That was the intent of Paul in writing to the Galatians who were saved but began to stray theologically and subsequently practically. Such straying does not make eternal life stop. But it can make good works stop until such time as their beliefs line up rightly with the Word of God and they can get back on track, functionally speaking. So it is with many denominations that have strayed theologically. Many of their new "converts" are not true conversions because they are not teaching the Scriptures accurately. It explains the "falling away" of the last days, and the movement toward secularism in our world today. But to declare someone "not saved" based upon their theology is to stand as judge - and that is God's job, not ours. Let's let the Holy Spirit be the convictor, not our fancy legalistic interpretations of scripture. After all, the best convert is one who is a convert inwardly, not merely a conversion of profession.
