Tho'ts on America's Independence

Hope everyone had a great Independence Day - safe and fun.  My family did something we haven't done before.  While we did all the usuals (cook out, fireworks, etc.), when we were done eating the grilled food, I read a copy of our great nation's Declaration of Independence.  What an eye-opener!  It sounded like the colonists of 1776 were facing a tyrannical government which all too much resembles our own today!  I wonder what the signers would say of our courts today when they over-rule the will of the people?  I wonder what the signers would say of our congress that passes taxes without asking the people?  I wonder what the signers would say about the recent rulings on property being seized by the Federal Government to enhance some huge corporation's bottom line?  I wonder what they would say about much of what we face.  The charges presented against the King of England in 1776 are very similar to what would easily be said against our current government. 

 

I believe that our current generations in America are spineless and apathetic - unwilling to stand up to the government.  It would be a great thing, indeed, if every child were to read and learn the meaning, contents, and truths surrounding our Declaration of Independence.  What people today would be willing to do what they did - pledge their lives, fortunes, and reputations to be free of the injustice, tyrannical government we have today?  But to say such a thing is to invite the FBI, CIA, Dept. of Homeland Security, and any number of local "police" organizations to investigate such speech.

 

My problem is that all too many in Congress are against our great nation.  They don't want freedom OF religion, but freedom FROM religion.   They don't want the people to speak, they want to manipulate the courts.  They don't want freedom as the founders wanted it, they want to be the dictators.  They want communism.  They don't want capitalism.  They want the will of the few forced on the will of the many.  They want socialism, they don't want a society of decency.  They want promiscuity, they don't want reality.  Would to God the CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, ATF, and the like would investigate these folks and put them where they ought to be - locked up and the key thrown away for their violence to the American Dream, for their opposition to the Constitution (which they wantonly re-write at their whim, and then force that down our throat).  They should be arrested as enemies domestic which our President has sworn to defend us of.  It is many in our government who are breaking our laws with their hidden and selfish agendas.

 

I only wish that America would return to her roots.  Don't you?
