Thots on Hurricane Katrina vs. 9/11

Hinesville, Savannah, and surrounding communities are abuzz with rumors of gas prices rising over $4.00 per gallon - and that gas stations are going to shut down for 24 hours to reset everything.  Well, that's just rumors - though the official word is that prices will rise that high by Labor Day.

Katrina continues to rock our nation - and in many ways more profoundly than the atrocities of 9/11.  Everyone is feeling the pinch of gas prices.  I'm going to ride my bike tomorrow to work rather than drive my ugly van.  While Katrina's death toll continues to rise, and millions of Americans are champing at the bit to give to disaster relief, it seems that the gifts won't be as big because so many need to keep some back to pay for fuel to get to work.

I pity our taxi-drivers.  They may be forced out of business as overhead exceeds income.  Our government cannot respond quick enough to stabilize the cost of fuel.  Some people are panicking, others are paralyzed, while others (particularly the looters and the like around the disaster area) are capitalizing on the tragedies happening to our nation.

In the aftermath of 9/11, the liberals of our nation blamed the President for the tragedy.  They continue to do so for one thing or another, be it the handling of Iraq, or the rising gas prices.  Katrina obviously is not our President's fault.  Neither is the cost of fuel.  The impact of Katrina on the oil industry may be huge, but the industry has been predicting for over a month that gas prices will rise to over $5.00 per gallon of gas by Christmas.  That may be a prophecy that comes true - and much sooner than Christmas.  But our country has tied our President's hands by their liberal bents and demands.  He cannot tap Alaska's oil to the extent that we need it - not without congressional approval.  I don't see that happening too quickly.  He cannot make the oil industry suddenly cap their prices - that also is congress' job.  I don't see him getting away with declaring martial law - congress and the courts would stop that.  The courts have stripped the President of any power, and congress backs them up on that matter because their own pockets are being padded by the special interest groups who are also paying the courts big bucks to make ridiculous decisions.  Yet, they still try to blame our President.

This country would be wise to repent of our rejection of God - and repent soon.  God blesses and God curses.  God gives and God takes away.  God causes nations to rise, and God causes nations to fall.  Terrorists may not destroy our nation, but God can.  A couple more "natural disasters" of even a portion of Katrina, and our country will fall financially to a financial catastrophe even worse than the depression of the 1930's - with no war to pull us out, to pull us together.  We are the enemy and we are fighting one another as those who follow the Lord are the enemy of those who want God removed from our country.  When the country repents, follows God, then we have God's promise that He will bless us again.  But we have the opposite promise from God - when we reject Him, we can expect His curse.  We must look to God for blessing to rebuild - or else ourselves for blame for disaster.

When it comes to Katrina vs. 9/11 - Katrina comes from God and Katrina wins.  America didn't wake up after 9/11.  Will she wake up now or is she already dead?
