Thots On False Teaching

I got a letter in the mail yesterday – supposedly a Christian denouncing Jews.  It was one of those terrible letters making accusations that you’ll never hear from any other place.  Then, the scriptures given (in abundance) are twisted and taken entirely out of context in order to “support” the proposition.  I’ll not even share with you the accusations for their terribleness.

Seems that there are quacks in every corner.  The problem with this one and his ilk are that they deceive and gain followings in a manner similar to that of cults.  They have not the love of God, but seek to destroy their fellow man.  They don’t mind lying to do it.  Sincere or not, they are sincerely wrong – and they are a damage to the testimony of God in the process.

I don’t personally find, anywhere in the Word of God, even a hint of condemnation of a people – except for their lack of repentance.  Even the Ninevites, in all their cruelty, were forgiven for their wickedness when they repented.  Jonah, the prophet sent to tell them to repent, couldn’t stand the thought of God giving them forgiveness.  He was rebuked by the Lord for it.  Such a rebuke is worthy when given to those who hate another simply because of their faith, race, or the like.  It is most ungodly.

I believe that the religion of Islam is cruel, wrong, and what have you, but I will not condemn them by bringing on them false charges, or advocating their destruction.  I would love to live in a place void of their teaching and violence.  But their repentance from Islam is a gateway to genuine life – eternal life through Jesus Christ.

If I am guilty of such slander and maliciousness, I pray the Lord would show me, and I beg forgiveness even as I write this.  I certainly meant no such thing.  Bold speech is one thing, but false teaching is another.
