Thots On Religious Discrimination

Are you comfortable with your faith?  I don’t mean are you comfortable believing as you do, but are you comfortable with the environment you live in believing as you do?

Enter several of the people in the Good Ole’ USA who are under attack – not comfortable in their environment – because they are Christians and are not ashamed to tell others about it.

Consider the latest victim of the anti-Christian bias, "Straight-A" student Jacqueline Escobar.  She was fired from her internship with Department of Family Services in California – all because she would talk about her faith during lunch and off-duty hours.  The authorities were incensed because she wore a Christian T-Shirt after work.

In Annapolis, Missouri, the ACLU is aflame about kids getting Bibles from the Gideons, Int’l.  Their argument is as shallow and transparent as a 1” puddle in the middle of the playground right after the rain – because the Bibles are distributed during class time, it “looks” like the school is endorsing it.  What an offense.  How about the immorality training they force the kids to undergo during class time?

Go back a couple of weeks, and you’ll meet a pharmacist who was fired from her job because she refused to dispense the RU486 abortion pill.  In her mind, it was the same as being an accomplice to murder.  Her ethical problems cost her everything. Now, she’s a leading witness in court against this illegal persecution and discrimination.

As far back as 1987, the homosexual activist paper, Gay Community News, is reported to have declared war on Christianity by closing all churches that do not embrace and support the lifestyle.

For more, check out the last two months’ of reports from Agape Press on the topic of Religious Freedom.  I’ve already done the searches for you and you can simply click the following links to access a month at a time and all the articles.  It amounts to about an article every two days of some grievance against Christians in our nation – just for being a Christian.

While you and I might be comfortable in our environment, the discrimination against us for our faith is coming our way – and sooner or later WE won’t be comfortable any more.  The good news is that Jesus wasn’t comfortable, either.  The good news is that we won’t be uncomfortable forever.  We will one day live where faith is not only common, but mandatory – you can’t get to heaven without trusting the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and the empty tomb as payment for your sins.  Heaven will be filled with such believers and only such believers.  Even the angels believe.

Therefore, while the attack on Christianity in America is real and genuine – that does not mean Jesus is not real and Genuine!  Our faith is eternal.  Don’t let others shut you up!  Tell the Old, Old Story so people can hear the Good News and be Saved.
