Have you noticed? Among Christians, especially, the Rapture is a subject of great interest – especially with all the Mid East activity. Yet, their interest in holy living and evangelism is at an all-time low. Such was the warning of our Savior (2Thessalonians 2:3 – Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first). Hmmm.
It makes me, for one, think about my life and if it’s been pleasing to the Lord. It makes me, for one, want to tell others about how to get saved (evangelism). Will anyone join me in this endeavor?
Bro. Greg,
ReplyDeleteYou've discovered my pet peeve: "This world is so terrible, I just wish Jesus would come back to rescue us." There's the old dispensational line, "Why polish brass on a sinking ship?"
Martin Luther observed the sin around him and thought this must be the end, Jesus was coming soon.
Jonathan Edwards observed the sin around him and thought this must be the end, Jesus was coming soon.
But Jesus didn't come in 1546 or 1758.
What did happen? The Reformation and the Great Awakening.
A few Sundays ago, we heard that some of our missionaries had been being persecuted by the witch doctor in their village. That week we learned that the witch doctor and his wife had been saved.
In Revelation, John sees the persecuted saints and martyrs crying out to God and then sees God responding in judgment and salvation.
Daniel saw a stone not cut with hands crush the kings of the earth and grow into a mountain that filled the earth.
Jesus taught about a tiny mustard seed that grows into a tree for birds to nest in, and leaven that leavens the whole lump.
Christians need to stop crying for a rescue and start walking in obedience. We are not called to be rescued. We are called to be salt and light. Christianity is half full and the Holy Spirit is still pouring. Keep at it until it is overflowing as promised.
Oh, and thanks for the post!
