I’m back because I woke very early this morning (about 3:15 AM), couldn’t sleep, and was struggling in my soul over ministry issues – namely youth ministry. Seems all we are doing is suffering setback after setback. We are trying to take a stand for decency, Christ, righteousness and the gospel – only to face one trial after another. For instance:
- We had a terrific outreach event planned at a local pool hall for teens. Two months before the event should have taken place; the facility closed its doors for good.
- Our Youth Leaders are all wanting out for one reason or another.
- We had a “Friend Nite” planned and the weather cancelled church all together.
- Getting key players “in the loop” is next to impossible due to scheduling conflicts.
Need I say more? Well, I was praying and the thought occurred to me to check out the internet for “recruiting” ideas and Youth Ministry for Rural Churches. There are some things out there, but nothing “do-able” in our situation.
So, here I am crying into the Internet with my frustration, and wondering what other struggles are just ahead. Am I up to it? My trust is with the Lord, but can I accept a negative answer from Him?
