Quoting an AP article, Agape Press reports, “...Former Senator John Danforth says Christian conservatives shouldn't claim to speak for God on political issues. Danforth, a Missouri Republican who is also an Episcopal priest, told NBC's "Meet the Press" that he believes the GOP is too dominated today by what he calls "one branch of one religion." He says Christian conservatives' certainty that their positions on issues like abortion and same-sex "marriage" reflect God's will can make necessary political compromises impossible. Danforth is author of Faith and Politics, a book that is subtitled, "How the 'Moral Values' Debate Divides America and How to Move Forward Together." [AP]”
I want to take issue with Sen. Danforth’s position and titles. Political compromises DO NOT trump the clear statements of the Word of God (the Bible, for those of you who are not Christians). Sen. Danforth is asking Christians to sit down, shut up, and stop standing for morality. He sees those who do as “preventing the political process from proceeding” (my words). He wants Bible believers to not share the Biblical pronouncements on morality (“speaking for God on political issues”) with our society, or our government.
Political compromise is NOT what our nation needs. The immoral segment of our society will not compromise and God will not compromise. We have come to a major impasse. It is one that could lead us to a turning point in our nation’s history as real and radical as the Civil War. Now, I am not advocating war, but I am saying that one MUST take a stand. There really is no middle ground here. You can’t be for the North AND the South. If you are in the middle, you’ll get shot by both sides.
How can a “priest,” ordained of God, refrain from pronouncing the mind of God to a people? Simple, he is a priest on paper, not in spirit. His calling is not from God, but from self. He comes from a faithless “branch of one religion.” God is not his authority – the political process is. He does not want to honor God, but to get re-elected. He does not want a “Christian” nation with decent morals; he wants a “democracy” without any moral restraints at all. He has succumbed to a liberal, unbiblical theology that somehow has made room for sin rather than seeking to live free from it in God’s sight. The Savior whom Mr. Danforth says he serves died to free men from sin, not make room for man to go deeper into it. The Biblical pronouncement on a nation that rejects the Scriptural God and Savior is clear. Our nation has rejected it, and Rev. Danforth has as well – in favor of all sorts of immoral behaviors. Mr. Danforth’s position is unbiblical, and his doctrine is unbiblical – indeed, he is advocating that those who want a biblical life be silenced and stay out of the political process that is their right and biblical responsibility to be a part of. Mr. Danforth is now working for the enemy – seeking to do to Bible-believers what Satan has been trying to do since the beginning of time – free people from obedient faith in God and entice people into faithless sin. Who is Rev. Danforth really working for?

Who Is John Danforth Working For?
Liberal religion and politics in America may mix, but Biblical faith does not mix with the downward moral trend in our nation’s politics. If you don’t believe me, ask one who has mixed politics with "religion" (not faith) - the liberal priest and politician Sen (Rev?) John Danforth.
