Thot's On Religious Freedoms

Christians, you'd better wake up to the fact that our secular America is working overtime to silence your freedom of religion and speech.  "Believe what you want, but don't talk about it" is their cry against all things moral and faithful.  I get articles all the time from organizations such as the Christian Law Association, whose purposes are to defend Christians and Christian organizations from the growing assaults on these liberties.

For instance, in an article in Religion News called "Bumper Sticker Results in Lawsuit," a man was reprimanded and demoted for displaying a bumper sticker in his work cubicle - the bumper sticker said "marriage = 1 man + 1 woman."  The man peacefully and graciously removed the bumper sticker, but was reprimanded and demoted anyway.  What the article did not report was reported through one of the Radio News broadcasts yesterday, 8/25/05.  They said this man's boss was an open lesbian.

Those whose lifestyles and attitudes different from Christians consider us to be a threat to their lifestyle, and so they are working hard to strip us of our freedom to share our faith, our attitudes, and the like.  They take from us our freedom of religion claiming a freedom FROM religion.  They take from us our freedom of speech claiming intolerance and bigotry when our viewpoint clashes with theirs.  We need to wake up to this truth, speak up and stand up against it before we have not freedoms left in this cultural war.

The reason our lifestyle and beliefs are a threat to them is because when one genuinely accepts Christ as Lord, such lifestyles as homosexuality, promiscuity, and sensuality are seen for what they are - sinful and totally destructive to individuals and society.  Once the truth is seen clearly, one leaves that lifestyle behind willingly.  The truth IS a threat to their lifestyles.  But in a free society, we have as much right and freedom to proclaim our side as they do theirs - and others must choose.

The pendulum of public support for silencing the Christian viewpoint has occurred for a couple of reasons:

1.  We have not put in place judges who are sympathetic with our position - and that is because we have not shared with them at an early age the truth about Jesus Christ, the history of America, etc.  They have, instead, bought into a lie about separation of church and state, the faith of our founding fathers, etc.
2.  We have not put in place representatives who are sympathetic with our position.  The rich are elected, not the real.  The character of a man affects his ability to stand and vote in support of decency.  An indecent character will not demand decency but indecency so that he doesn't have to feel quite so guilty himself - and he thinks he's helping millions of indecent Americans to be free of their guilt and so he calls that a good thing for our nation.  Repentance is the only way to deal rightly with indecency, not approval and embrasure of it.

So, Christians, we have two responsibilities if we ever hope to see this pendulum swing back in our direction:

1.  Lead more people to faith in Christ Jesus so they will know the truth.
2.  Vote only for those who believe in Christ Jesus and stand on His principles.  They will subsequently nominate and approve appointees who hold the same beliefs and values.
