Thots On Commentaries (Internet Type, not Biblical)

Doing my usual surf this morning, it dawned on me that I've been sucked up in this craze of commenting on everything under the sun like others I respect (maybe that's why I'm doing it too?)

Anyway, reading Albert Mohler's column on Crosswalk.com where he talked about an article from some obscure source (obscure because I've never heard of it, not because it's truly obscure), and I thought about all the commentary going on around the world these days.  Seems sometimes we have to reach down deep and hard to say something, and then we say something only to look back and see that we've truly said nothing - nothing of lasting value that is.

Consider: Storms come and go, and come again.  Politicians and Political Issues come and go and come again.

Now, where in commenting on these things is anything said of lasting value?

I may have an answer to that - when we consider that these things are doorways to eternity as the gospel is presented.  Our culture needs Christ.  Our Senators need saving.  Our citizens need a new citizenship - in Heaven through faith in Jesus.

So, I hope that even this little, insignificant commentary has lasting value with those who read it.  And I hope that all my commentaries will be of eternal value in that I hope that before I post, I've pointed people to Jesus - our only source of hope, salvation, comfort, and peace.
