Thots On Creation vs. Evolution

Kansas got it right and some on the state's board of education is more worried about popular opinion than truth.  FOX News article, "Kansas State Board Approves Teaching Standards Skeptical of Evolution" reports that board "member Janet Waugh, a Kansas City Democrat, said "This is a sad day. We're becoming a laughingstock of not only the nation, but of the world, and I hate that.""  My paraphrase of that:  "Forget truth, we simply look silly and that's more important."  Like a peacock strutting around with his tail displayed and his head held high, these folks are simply part of the "herd mentality" where they go with popular opinion rather than stand alone for truth.

Read my comments to the "Kansas Evolutionist" regarding this topic in my previous post: "Thoughts On the State of the Union," (October 2005 Archive).  I believe I said it well enough there.

I know this may sound like rambling, but I grew up in Kansas and have, for the past 20 years or so, watched it grow increasingly liberal in policy.  This decision comes as a welcome surprise in more than just that way.  Kansas has rarely led the way in our nation in ANYTHING, much less something this important and this controversial.  Way to Go, Kansas!  Now, if the rest of the nation will follow suit... (that couldn't happen because Kansas is just a bunch of farmers.  If California or New York would do it, the country might follow).  I'm also glad that the state of Kansas is not in the jurisdiction of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals - or the ruling would be overturned for some stupid reason like "it is unconstitutional to do what is not on our agenda."

Evolution is bogus, unscientific, and strictly theory.  Creation (or intelligent design) is an observable and rational conclusion regarding the origin of the universe.  Science really DOES back this up.  It is arrogant of scientists to give a wholesale discount to the idea of Creation in light of the evidence.  What evidence is there of evolution?  Has anyone ever seen a snake give birth to a bird?  How about a monkey or ape give birth to a human?  Dogs and Cats might look as much like one another as humans and apes - but they are equally different and unable to interbreed.  Why?  They didn't evolve from one another. We've never seen evidence to the contrary, but we've seen plenty of evidence to support their creation.
