Thots On the Theological Attack on Christianity

With the passing of Dr. Adrian Rogers, Southern Baptist Preacher, leader, teacher, and powerhouse of clear biblical thinking, comes the end of an era. The question I have is this: will those who remain behind be as "able" as Dr. Rogers to articulate the truths of biblical inerrancy and authority? I really wonder. I know their passion is to do so, but our times involve some of the greatest and most potent attacks on the Scriptures I have ever seen.

I'm only 40 years old, have only been a Christian for half of that time. But in the last 5 years, the attacks on the inerrancy and authority of the Bible have become stronger and stronger. The greatest is about to be unleashed. BPNews reports that there is a movie called "The daVinci Code" to be released in summer 2006. It comes from the book. Far more will watch the movie than read the book. Ron Howard is directing it, and stars Tom Hanks. {I'm saddened as these two are (were) some of my favorites from Hollywood. Their efforts and roles in discrediting (attempting to discredit) the Bible, my Savior, and the Living God of Heaven have brought them to a new low in my estimation. They may not be the enemy, but until the Lord shines the light of truth in their hearts, they are the powerful tools of the enemy, Satan.} Once the concept is in the movies, the discussion will be all over the country - that is good AND bad.

You see, the Bible says that in the end, there will be a great deception that darkens the minds and hearts of people around the globe. That is one of the signs that the end is near. There seems to be such a deception covering our nation as more and more are losing faith in the Scriptures. It is subtle at first, but movies and books such as The daVinci Code and other movies that doubt the biblical account of Jesus' life, while based on fiction, are too often taken as fact.

Therefore, we who have been shown the truth because the truth lives in us must stand up and do our very level best to fill shoes left empty by Dr. Adrian Rogers. We must open the discussion armed with fact, and secure in our answers to these questions before this summer. The Bible says we are to be ready in season and out of season with an answer - and not any answer will do. We must have the TRUTH! We cannot let the theologically weak and fuzzy undermine the eternity of millions of people. It has cost our Lord far too much, and it has cost the lives of thousands of Christians who have died for the faith over the centuries. We must be prepared to lay our lives down for it as well.
