OK. Now you’ve done it. You’ve crossed the line. At least the idiots in academia have. They’ve gone to meddling in stuff they know nothing about. They’re trying to tell the military how to recruit/retain troops. I can relate to farmers resenting the arrogance of a paper-pusher in telling him how to do his farming.
CNS News reports ('Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Allegedly Causes Military Shortages) that the University of California at Santa Barbara has a research department designed to tell the military how to recruit. They are trying to tell the military to abandon the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy against homosexuals because they’re short too many medical personnel. Sheer idiocy.
I was a medic. It doesn’t take a lot of foresight to see that homosexuals don’t belong in the medical profession – especially on the battlefield. We all know the degradation of esprit de corps that comes when men of differing sexual “preferences” are mixed. But that’s not the last and most important argument against having homosexuals on the battlefield. The strongest, in my opinion, is the propensity of homosexuals to contract HIV and AIDS through their promiscuous and risky immorality. I won’t go so far to say that our American Military is full of moral people. However, the risks are greater for homosexuals than with heterosexuals.
Some people might argue this, considering the military’s notoriety for adultery, prostitution, and fornication while away from home. And a good point at that. But would you want someone ten times more likely to be infected with HIV treating YOU on the battlefield? Blood is everywhere, and there is nothing to sanitize the battlefield of it. Blood is exchanged nearly all the time when a medic treats a wounded soldier – often the medic is bleeding, too. I wouldn’t want to survive a sucking chest wound and an amputation only to die of AIDS because my “buddy” gave it to me on the battlefield. THAT, MY FRIENDS, is the strongest argument against homosexuality in the military, in my opinion.
Even the Army admits that they have discharged quite a few homosexuals over ten years through this ‘DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL’ policy. But, what the folks in their white shirts and pocket protectors don’t see is – how many have been discharged for other morale, disciplinary, and administrative reasons? Overweight and out of shape soldiers are discharged. Recalcitrants are discharged. Quitters are discharged. How much impact do you suppose THESE people have on retention stats?
The reason the academia is focusing on the homosexual issue and twisting the facts to make a mountain out of a mole hill is because they are PRO-HOMOSEXUAL. They want that to be the issue, so they make it the issue. They are not interested in truth, reality, or any such factual approach. They have an agenda which they cover up and hide behind their white lab coats and square hats. I’m not impressed with our institutions of higher education these days.
